Cryo-coils for MRI is a complicated and expensive area in coil design and development.
Nevertheless medres has developed and built cryo-coils that run with liquid nitrogen,
this was the begining of medres in 2004.
Nitrogen cryo-coils are much cheeper and easier to handle compared to advanced hydrogen ones,
but have been marked with bad ratio of price vs. benefit.
Our cryo-coils have shown that is not true with a SNR factor of two.
However, cryo-coils are still to expensive for most labs, who prefer auto-tuned and easy-to-handle-coils.
The mechanical fixation of the cryo-coils and the will to improve the animals support
ended in our most sold product: MACU - the multi-modal animal carrier unit
and has been the beginnig of providing a complete setup for experimental animal imaging:
MACU-System, the most sophisticated system for rodent research!
